Personal Experience

elvin Ondiba is a molecular biologist and ecologist with a strong background in molecular genetics, biodiversity monitoring, and conservation. Her research focuses on biodiversity conservation and species interactions in African aquatic systems, employing molecular approaches such as DNA extraction, amplification, sequencing, and environmental DNA analysis.

She joined KENWEB in 2019 after completing her Bachelor’s degree in 2018 from the University of Eldoret. Through mentorship and support within the network, she was awarded a scholarship in 2019 to pursue a Master’s degree at Mohammed V University in Morocco. Following the successful completion of her Master’s degree in 2021, she secured another scholarship to pursue a PhD at the same institution. Her journey within KENWEB has been marked by continuous mentorship, capacity building, and active participation in training programs. Her long-term goal is to apply the skills she learnt to advance biodiversity conservation and molecular ecology research, particularly in African aquatic systems.
